It is an endemic species, distribution of which is restricted to south Andaman. It is nocturnal. Nothing much is known about its habits and habitat.

According to IUCN Red List assessment, population of this is decreasing all over its range. No estimtes of its population are available. It faces threat by habitat destruction owing to logging, natural distasters like tsunami and drastic climate change.
