Tibetan Gazelle is native to Tibetan Plateau. It inhabits alpine meadows and high elevation steppe. It is a gregarious species forming small herds, that primarily feeds on legumes and forbs rather than grasses.

Conservation Status:

This species is listed as Near Threatened in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (https://www.iucnredlist.org/).


According to IUCN Red List assessment, its population is declining all over its range. Its current estimate of population is 1,00,000 mature individuals globally. It is locally common species but faces many threats. Competition over foraging areas with livestock, overgrazing by livestock, road and construction activities and marginal hunting-trapping are the major threats to its survival in wild.
