This species is listed as Near Threatened in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species (https://www.iucnredlist.org/).According to IUCN Red List assessment, population of this species is estimated to be between 1,00,000 and 1,50,000 mature individuals and it is increasing. Although the recent trends show increase in the global population, it still faces threats. Major threats to its survival come from habitat loss and fragmentation due to various human activities such as livestock grazing, expansion of agriculture, commercil and resiential development, transport, hunting and trapping.
